Workshop on Faculty Development Program - Train the Trainer

Overall purpose of the program is to enable participants:

  • Take a re-look at their stance as preceptors
  • Examine critically their delivery style
  • Get acquainted with top 7 tips ( based on adult learning theories) for improving their curriculum transaction
  • Evolve as ‘Encouraging Adult’ to relate with students with enhanced levels of empathy and understanding (top 7 tips for relationship management)
  • Align strongly with the Institution’s Vision-Mission to serve better
  • Get acquainted with Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits
  • Commit to an action plan based on Covey’s 7 habits to contribute to the institution. 

Some points for consideration:

  • A simple participants’ profile format will be given to participants before the program and collected via email. (else it will be given on day #1 and collected on the same day)
  • Each day may have four sessions, two each in the forenoon and afternoon.
  • Each day may also have two reflection spaces exclusively meant for participants where they share their learning and experiences.
  • Total Recall slot (say 15-20 minutes) may be done by participants themselves (in teams)
  • Cultural Program, if possible, can be had for just 45 mts or I hour. This will help participants bond well and showcase their unique talent adding a certain fun flavour to the program.
  • Timings can be as per participants’ convenience.
  • (Preferred timings would be 9. 30 am to 4.30 pm with tea/lunch breaks in between)
  • At the end of every day we can also a brief discussion with key management members & principal to review the day’s program, focusing on what went well & what could have been different/better/ so that improvements can be attempted on the go.

This session will be an eye opener for the college/company management and specially for the faculties/employees working in the organization. We will bring tear in their eyes, tear of joy and motivation and energy to bring the change for the organization.

Session Flow: Day-1

  • Warm-up & Introduction: to relate to the program with a positive mindset; creating learning teams
  • Activity: Aha & Ouch Moments: Share their thoughts/views/feelings about the work they do (through a game/exercise on Aha and Ouch moments at work); surface challenges/issues related to their work
  • Setting the context: Relate to the ‘What’s in it for me?’ of the program; discussion linking the challenges/issues at work with the purpose of the workshop-to get in the buy-in for active participation and involvement ; distribution of Learning Kit
  • Video Time: “Do Flowers Fly?” ; discussion on the real purpose of education; arriving at the understanding that Learning happens when it is safe, easy and fun; overview of the 3 day program
  • Activity: Understanding Self; taking stock of oneself as an individual & professional
  • TOP 7 Tips for improving/fine-tuning delivery: short-demo-s, video clips, sharing of experiences and learning (the contents will cover Adult Learning Principles, MI Theory and their application in classroom)
  • My Action Plan: First set of commitments based on the day’s learnings.
  • Closure: sharing of learnings, experience & review: feedback

 

Session Flow: Day-2

  • Welcome & Power-recap: to relate to the program with a positive mindset; learning teams will present the recap
  • Down Memory Lane: Activity to relate to the role of teacher/preceptor
  • TOP 7 Tips for effective relationship management (how to positively relate with students-content will cover Transactional Analysis, Leadership Theories and their application, key ideas on Mentoring & Modeling the appropriate behavior)
  • Activity -Self-audit : to reflect on one’s own style of communication and ability to connect with people/students
  • A quick look at the Institutional Vision, Mission & Values; reflection exercise on what they can do to help the institution accomplish the goals; bond as “Team Faculty” to help each other and move forward as one cohesive whole.
  • My Action Plan: Second set of commitments based on the day’s learning’s.
  • Closure: sharing of learning’s, experience & review: feedback
  • Cultural Show by participants* (if possible; this will help participants showcase their talents and appreciate one another; they will bond as a team)

 

Session Flow: Day-3

  • Welcome & Power-recap: to relate to the program with a positive mindset; learning teams will present the recap
  • Activity -Treasure Hunt: participants “discover” Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits & Paul McGee’s 6
  • SUMO Secrets
  • Reflection exercise: Me as a leader – what/how do I contribute: 4E leadership model
  • Deep-peep into 7 Habits & 6 SUMO guidelines to improve personal effectiveness and professional excellence (contents will include developing a winner’s mindset, time management, 4E leadership model etc.,)Down Memory Lane: Activity to relate to the role of teacher/preceptor
  • Activity -Self-audit : to reflect on one’s own professional significance and contribution towards the student-community, peers and the institution.
  • Activity-Sankalpa: A quick look at the Institutional Vision, Mission & Values; reflection exercise on what they can do to help the institution accomplish the goals; bond as “Team Faculty” to help each other and move forward as one cohesive whole.
  • My Action Plan: Third & Final Set of commitments based on the day’s learnings.
  • Activity -Showcase : participants showcase their learnings
  • Closure: sharing of learnings, experience & review: feedback
